- The 1630 Muster Roll of Sir John Clotworthy includes a David Fargison.
- In Sep 1648 Carrickfergus was surrendered to the Parliamentarian General Monk by Royalist allied Sir George Munro who was taken prisoner. Monk was aided by some of Monro's own soldiers who wished to change allegiance. Those soldiers under the commands of Edmund Ellis of Sir John Clotworthy's Regiment and Captain Brice Cochrane of the Earl of Glencairne's regiment were then garrisoned at Carrickfergus after the surrender.
- In early 1649 Carrickfergus once again changes hand. On 4 July 1649 articles of agreement are signed by Lord Ards representing the army within the province of Ulster and Edmond Ellis, Brice Cochran, Edward Ferguson and others representing officials of Carrickfergus.
