This family believed they were unrelated to the 1st Ferguson of Fourmileburn but in later discussion it is implied that might not be so [Supplement p.99] .

• William Shaw FERGUSON, of Fourmileburn, m. daughter of Rev. Bernard LINDEN, Rector of Donegore, (stated by his grandson Alexander to have gone to Fourmileburn from Crumlin) and had issue -
  • John [according to Notes of Capt. J. FERGUSON, John m. Margret GAULT but in the marriage announcement John is referred to as Junior.]

  • In Donegore Church of Ireland graveyard a gravestone commemorates William Ferguson, son of John Ferguson of Four Mile Burn, who was lost with the US mail steamship Arctic near Cape Race on 27 September 1854.
