Oral tradition in the family dating back to 1754 says
Jeremiah's father is Robert the son of Alexander FERGUSSON and Annie Laurie of
Craigdarroch. Robert was a merchant and settled in Cork Ireland where he
traveled back and fourth to London and Dumfries. I am in receipt of a letter he
wrote to his brother James to look after one of his daughters while she was in
Dumfries. The same tradition is held by a distant cousin I have recently found.
We have the same GGG grandfather, David Ferguson buried in Black River
NY.
