ROBERT FERGUSON, SR. was born about 1640 and died about 1685 in Henrico County, Virginia. He married a woman named Jennet who was born about 1641 and died about 1717. Robert and Jennet had two known children, Robert Jr. and Elizabeth.
ROBERT FERGUSON JR. was born in 1661, probably in Yester, E. Lothian, Scotland. He died in 1718 in Henrico County, Virginia. He married Martha Baugh who was born about 1661. Robert and Martha had five children; Elizabeth, James, John, Robert II and Moses.
MOSES FERGUSON was born about 1700 in Henrico County, Virginia and died September 7, 1750 in Chesterfield County, Virginia. He married Martha who died in 1775 in Chesterfield County. They had six children; Daniel, Jean Jane, John, Elizabeth, Aaron and Joshua.
JOHN FERGUSON, SR, was born about 1725 and died September 26, 1786 in Bedford County, Virginia. He married Mary Gill, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth King Gill. Mary was born about 1735 in Henrico County, Virginia, and died after 1815. They had seven sons; Jeremiah, Pleasant, William, Isham, King, Joseph and John Jr. ISHAM FERGUSON was born about 1756 in Franklin County, Virginia and married Sarah. Isham and Sarah had six children, Thomas, Jane, John H., Elizabeth, and Isham Mitchell.

ISHAM MITCHELL FERGUSON was born August 31, 1788 in Franklin County, Virginia, and died September 3, 1864 in Howard County, Missouri. He married Julia A. Kinney in 1825 in Kentucky. Isham and Julia had six children; Lavinia, Sarah, Thomas, John, Milford and Wiley.
WILEY FERGUSON was born in 1836 in Missouri and died December 31, 1888. He married Frances Griswold (could also be Grisholm or Grisham) about 1856. Frances was born about 1836 and died 1858. By 1860 Wiley was married to Elizabeth Montgomery. Some of their children wrote letters and visited their half- brother, John Mitchell, who lived in California. There is no other documentary evidence that John Mitchell is the son of Wiley, nor is there any record of Wiley having a first wife. The Salisbury Court House burned down during the Civil War. Based on John's statements to his daughter, Frances and the letters from relatives in Missouri, I believe that John Mitchell is the son of Wiley and Frances Ferguson.
JOHN MITCHELL FERGUSON was born August 25, 1857 in Salisbury, Missouri, and died June 15, 1947 in Madera, California. He married Sarah Horton October 1, 1876 in Salisbury. John and Sarah had seven children, After Sarah's death, John married Ida May Purscell on December 23, 1900 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Ida was born February 21, 1866 in Iowa, and died January 18, 1956 in Fresno. California. Ida had three children by her first husband. and had three children with John; Sylvia May, Frances Margaret and John Martin.
