James FERGUSON b.~ 1803/4 in Scotland. He married in 1825 in Edinburgh area (St.Cuthberts). They had one child in Edinburgh area, 2 more in Stow (S of Edinburgh) and final child in unknown location before emigrating. James FERGUSON was a saddler by trade. James' mother might be named Mary.
James FERGUSON reportedly came to North America about 1835. His wife, Gordon Peden FERGUSON arrived some 6 wks later with their 4 sons, Alexander,Thomas, Walter and James. The Fergusons settled in New York City.
The Fergusons lived around 3rd Ave and 84th St (Yorkville) from mid 1850's until about 1900.
