SNP

Branch I of this group are known (kit 31881) or predicted to be DF97+ and characterized by DYS385=12,12; DYS389=13,30; DYS460=12; DYS607=17. To date the ancestral locales known outside the colonies are Knockbride, county Cavan, Ireland and an unknown locale in Scotland. These SNP downstream of DF97 are untested: FGC1981 and A1330; they are available from YSEQ.

Branch II is a family group whose most recent common ancestor Thomas FERGUSON married Jane Thompson INMAN in Madison County, AL in 1834. They are predicted to be DF97+, FGC1981-, A1330- based on DYS481=22

Time to Most Recent Common Ancestor

The Time To Most Recent Ancestor (TMRCA) is a measure of relatedness and well defined in the case of a family tree wherein one simply counts the number of generations back to the most recent common ancestor shared with someone else in the tree. From differences in haplotypes between two men it is possible to make a rough estimate of the probability that the TMRCA falls between two numbers. The numbers reported in the table below are such that the TMRCA is expected to fall within the range shown with a probability of 90%.
