Haplogroup R1b - Clade: Hawkins

DNA testing has proven the progenitor of this Ferguson family is in fact a Hawkins, most likely through Bluford Hawkins, born 1811 in Grayson, Co., VA. Grayson Co. is about 80 miles from Roanoke VA, where Joseph was born. The well traveled road through the New River Valley connects the two areas. This Hawkins’ family was in the road construction business and logically I could see where Burton Hawkins took his son, Bluford, on many trips. Because Bluford was the same age as Joseph’s mother he could well have been his father; the 37 marker test matches perfectly to this family. Both Bluford and Joseph’s mother were 19 years old when Joseph conceived. I know this is all conjecture but the discovered facts would suggest a strong possibility. I still haven’t discovered for sure who his mother was. Obviously, she was a Ferguson.
