- Gilbert was a Revolutionary Soldier applied for and received a
pension #S6851 He was b 24 or 28 Feb 1762 at Bethlehem in Dutchess Co., NY
& lived at Beekman in Dutchess Co. at enlistment. Applied for pension 12
Feb 1833 Herkimer Co. a resident of West Brunswick, NY He had brothers named

- 1720 Purchase - John Ferguson, Jr. (II) was on a list of
Freeholders in Westchester in 1686 with a £25 share and registered his
mark for his animals in 1706. He and his son John (III) took the oath of
allegiance there in 1698. He was on the grand Jury in Westchester Co., December
1, 1691 and was a witness May 12, 1694. He was deceased by June 20, 1720 when
Thomas Jennings of NYC sold some woodland adjoining Bear Swamp to John Ferguson
(III), son of John Ferguson (II), late dec'd. [K. B. COOK, 2013]
- 1733 JF Will of John Forgason (III), Westchester. Mentions wife
Ann, sons Hezekiah and Nehemiah and daughter Sarah, " my kinsman Daniel Turner

- 1781 GL The will of Gabrier Leggett, dated June 25, 1781, proved
May 2, 1786, in which he styles himself "Gabriel Leggett late of West Chester,
but now of West Patent of North Castle, Westchester Co.," names sons Thomas and
James, daughters Mary Archer (wife of John Archer, of Winterhill), Martha
Forgason, husband Hezekiah; Phebe Meiers, husband Isaac; Elizabeth and
Catherine. The executors are sons Thomas and James and "son-in-law, James
Archer" [Early settlers of West Farms, Westchester County, N.Y, 1913]
- The Turner family, of Westchester County, are not to be mistaken
for the Tourneurs. The former were descendants of Lawrence Turner, who as early
as 1646. had dealings with English residents at Manhattan. He removed from
Newport to Greenwich, and thence into " the borough and town of Westchester,"
where he died in 1668, leaving a widow, Martha. His daughter Mary married John
Ferguson, Jr., and his son Daniel Turner, of Westchester, yeoman, died May
24,1705 leaving his widow Margaret, a son Daniel, and daughters Martha, Mary
and Rebecca, the last of whom married Eleazar Gedney, of Mamaroneck. [Revised
