The largest region in Scotland, Strathclyde includes the former independent counties of Argyll or Argyllshire, Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire, Ayrshire and the Isle of Arran. The main city in the region is Glasgow with other major towns being Paisley, Greenock, Kilmarnock, Clydebank, Hamilton, Coatbridge and Prestwick.
