In 1902 the four Ferguson brothers Peter, Daniel, Louis and Robert
broke away from their Fleming & Ferguson Shipyard at Paisley and set up on
their own as consultants before leasing the Newark Shipyard, Port Glasgow, at
£500 per year securing in March, 1903.....On the premature death of Mr
Bobby Ferguson in 1954, the company was sold to Lithgow's Ltd in
1963.

- CLYDE SHIPBUILDER'S DEATH With the death of Mr Robert Ferguson,
66 Newark Street, Greenock, there now remains only one of four brothers who
started the well-known Port-Glasgow ship building firm of Ferguson Brothers.
The surviving brother is Mr P. Ferguson. Thirty-nine years ago they established
Ferguson Brothers, which has had a history of outstanding success. Mr Robert
Ferguson, who was aged 68 years, was joint managing director. His only son, Mr
R. K. Ferguson, the well-known Greenock cricketer, is a director of the firm,
as are also three nephews, one of whom is Mr P. J. F. Williamson, captain of
