Jun 6 1879 - George Dunmore, well known and highly respected colored
man died at an advanced age at "Mulberry Grove." He was formerly owned by John
Fergusson. "Uncle" George was sexton at Christ Church, Port Tobacco.

Feb 8 1884 - " A three-legged jackass was born in California. That's
tough on the poor animal. With one leg less he would have been a human being,

Mar 30 1883 - Jim Short, colored labourer on R.C. Fergusson's farm
suffered serious, perhaps fatal accident. Dr. Robert Digges gave professional
attendance.

Aug 13 1866 - James H. Young, "son of our former fellow countyman
Augustus Young, Esq. now of Washington County" marries Adelel Compton
Fergusson, second daughter of William B. Fergusson at home of bride's parents
by Rev. Thomas O. Tongue, Durham parish. Couple left for Glymont boat for
Washingon D.C. enroute to future home in Washington County. Groom just 21 tears
old, bride, 17 years old.

Sep 11 1896 - Mrs. Catherine Fergusson died at her home near Bel
Alton on Saturday. Widow late R. Cutler Fergusson, sister Mrs. L.A. Wilmer,
Mrs. Harris Stonestreet and Josephine Fergusson' Leaves 7 children, six boys
and one girl, all minors. Rev. Mr. Poindexter conducted services and remains
taken to family graveyard on "Mulberry Hill" farm. Pall bearers three of her
sons, Willie, James and Oscar Fergusson, her brothers in law, General Wilmer
and W. D. Fergusson, and her nephew Guy Stonestreet. Funeral in charge of Mr.
Roby of Bel Alton.
