The Ferguson's originally came from Kilkerran, Ayrshire, Scotland: in
1700 a number of the family moved to Londonderry, Ireland. Mary Kerr's parents
were Rev. Kerr and Mary Benbow d/o Admiral Benbow of Thropshire, England.

- February 20 1895 Dispatch - Mrs. FERGUSON, widow of Benbow FERGUSON
of St. John, died at the residence of her son-in-law, Richard BULL, Wednesday
eve. last. The deceased was born in Londonderry, Ireland in March 1805 and
would therefore have been 90 years old next month. She came to this country
when ten years old and has lived in St. John since then until the past few
years, which she has lived with her daughter, Mrs. Richard Bull. Her family
consisted of eight children, five sons and three daughters. Her three daughters
and two of her sons survive her. Her body was taken to St. John for
interment.
