In the 1851 Census John and wife, she was born Inverchoalan in Argyll, are listed. Daughter Catherine is not at home but there is a new daughter, Marion, also Mother-in-law Catherine Buchanan, born Bute. In the 1861 Census John and wife are listed. Catherine is now at home listed as Catherine Brown. Grace, Bryce and Marion are also still at home, plus an Archibald Brown, Grandson. 1871 Census - not listed.
