John FERGUSSON was born about 1791 to Thomas FERGUSSON and Christina DOUGLAS in Lagrach, Pitlochry and died 15 Mar 1866 in Balmore, Kinloch Rannoch, Perth.

"He was taken from his parents when a child by General (Archibald) Fergusson of Dunfallandy, and educated there at his expense, he being considered the nearest male heir to the head of the clan. Why he never became so I cannot say."
